Pursuit of God Day 15 – Metrics and My Fathers’ Scales
NB: THE FOLLOWING IS PART OF A SERIES BY GUEST BLOGGERS (MEMBERS OF THE JESUS HOUSE CONGREGATION) WHO WILL BE SHARING SUMMARIES ON THEIR DAILY PURSUITS DURING THE 21-DAY ‘PURSUIT OF GOD’ PROGRAMME WHICH RUNS FROM THE 6TH TO THE 26TH OF JUNE 2012.

I reached a crossover point in my daily metrics today. For the first time since the ‘Pursuit’ began, my spiriWeight gain has exceeded my physical weight loss. Now, I wouldn’t pay too much attention to these figures if I were you; anyone can keep track of whatever measurements they please. At the end of the day, it’s only my Father’s scales that count.
It probably goes without saying that I’m not referring to my earthly father when I say that. I think I can hazard a pretty good guess of what he’d have to say if he laid eyes on me right now. Before the fast started, he was one of the people who’d been excited that I’ve finally put on a bit of weight. Haha! With all of that additional flesh now off again, I can assure you that there’ll be no pleasing him.
Anyway, with all that has ensued over the last few weeks the one whom I hope will really be pleased is the heavenly Father; He who created every one of us for His pleasure and sent His only begotten son to die on the cross that we may all be reconciled to Him as His children.
Tonight I listened to Dr. Onuzo speak about this Father’s desire for close relationship with us; to hear from us and be heard by us, to be revered, loved and obeyed… To have us seek His opinion and counsel on all matters that concern us, to come to Him with our questions before we run to our fellow men and to trust Him enough to follow wherever He leads – even when we have no understanding of where that is.
I listened and I thought to myself how awesome it would be if He was truly pleased with my relationship with Him right now. Metrics aside, I sincerely (and I mean really & truly) hope that He is.
